More Signs Point to Cold...

Here is the latest AO indices. I realize that the GFS/ECMWF keep flipping and flopping. But on has to look at the overall global pattern to make a forecast on cold weather. The first set of Colder weather will make us realize that it is still winter and that will come Saturday. This will just give us a taste of what's to come. Next week still looks COLD. With the AO going negative one has to really worry about Arctic Air that could invade our area. This will also have a major impact on our Severe weather season. Why? Well, the things to look for are this: Does cold air travel all the way to the Gulf and effectively shut down rich moisture delivery? Or does the cold air help pump up the amplification of storm systems all over the Northern Hemisphere and take us right into spring?

Watch Out Below

Here she comes... The cold air is poised to make a return to Oklahoma. Just when we think winter is over and spring is here. Not likely! Cold air will be taking over and it will be hard to move it out of here. With an active southern jet FINALLY showing itself, it looks as if Snow/Ice will be a threat this go around.

Where is Winter?

Ahhh.. Finally, I get a chance to update the blog. I apologize but I have been on vacation the past couple of weeks.

So now that I am back. I think it is time to update this blog. First, I do think winter will come back with a vengence. The biggest signal right now is the cold outbreak in Europe. Last time Europe fell into the deep freeze so did we. I think the cold air will make a return around February 10th. The chance for snow will be in the forecat. Also, looking at some new data, it looks as if this severe weather season is shaping up to be pretty wild. I will have more details in later posts.
