Significant Risk, High Risk, Deadly Situation...

Now days you tend to hear the worst case scenario for every single severe weather event. I realize that the job of the government and media is to protect the public. But, one has to wonder if the government is doing us a disfavor? The public is growing ever so accustomed to the hype, and sadly one day the hype is going to kill.

Think about how many warnings the general public has to remember:

Terror Warnings
Tornado Warnings
T-Storm Warnings
Flash Flood Warnings
Flood Warnings
Significant Weather Alerts (A warning before the warning)
Tornado Watch (Be on the look out for warnings)
Fire Weather Alerts
Fire Weather Watches
Red Flag Warnings
Burn Bans

The public will eventually have to much of this hype and not listen to the warnings. Sadly, that will be the day when a tornado comes roaring through their neighborhood.

Severe Outbreak???

All signs point to a severe outbreak tomorrow afternoon. The only question I have is will the morning thunderstorms hamper afternoon storms. Probably not. Why? Well, the upper level dynamics are very impressive and the storm system being so strong this should overcome any problems with lack of sunshine.

Ahhhh Rain!!!

Wow... I have now lived in my new house for six months. Today is the first Cloudy, Rainy day that I have ever experienced while living in this house. The weather now is less predictable than it has been over the past six months. Why? Well, the pattern is now transient. We were stuck in a rut since last September.

Sadly, we are still in a drought. This weekends rain will help out some. My colleugue spoke with the Parks and Recreation deparment. They said, if we get about 3-4 inches of rain over a couple of days then the burn ban will probably be lifted. So, this rain may help us out some.

The next chance for severe weather will be around april 1st. The setup looks similar to last weekends outbreak.

No Fun For Chasers

The serious drought that we are currently experiencing is a menace. In normal years we should be receiving a good chance for rain this weekend. However, it doesn't look good. Why? Well, the only chance for getting some rain around here is if a warm front can ignite a few elevated thunderstorms here in Oklahoma. With most of the upper level energy staying WAY to the north of Oklahoma expect most strong storms to stay north of Oklahoma. Yeah, NORTH and not SOUTH. Its really scary to see all that energy stay to the North and not dig towards the south. This will not allow any good moisture to travel from the Gulf of Mexico northward. If this pattern does not break then WATCH out, because the Dust Bowl 2 is about to show its ugly face.
